Lasagne

Ingredients

500 gram minced beef -- preferably lean

1 onion -- large chopped

1 clove garlic -- crushed

1 can tinned tomatoes

2 tablespoon tomato puree

2 teaspoon oregano

1 pinch salt

1 pinch pepper

½ cup red wine -- half a glass

1 beef stock cube

6 slice lasagne -- or thereabouts

25 gram butter -- for the cheese sauce

50 gram plain flour

600 milliliter milk -- warm

250 gram cheese -- grated cheddar

1 drop parmesan -- sprinkled on top

1 drop paprika -- sprinkled on top

Directions

  • Cook the onion and garlic until soft, then add the minced beef and brown.
  • Add the tomatoes, tomato puree, red wine, stock cube, and herbs and cook for 10 minutes or so.
  • To make the cheese sauce melt the butter gently then add the flour and stir, cooking the roux for 2 to 3 minutes. Then gradually add in the milk, stirring constantly. Add the cheese and stir in until it is melted.
  • Assemble the lasagne in its dish, a layer of mince mixture, a layer of lasagne sheets, a second layer of mince and a second layer of lasagne sheets, then pour on the cheese sauce.
  • Sprinkle the top with grated parmesan cheese and paprika and bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 170 degrees C.
